Peace Train Departs from China: Iran as a Transit Crossroads Connecting Europe and the Region

As part of its ongoing efforts to achieve the strategic objectives of Lasting Peace Group in expanding international transportation infrastructure, the first freight train of the “Peace Train” project has successfully departed from China for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This train operates along the major China–Iran–Europe corridor, a project implemented through the key participation of Lasting Peace Group (based in China), Samand Rail Company (based in Iran), China Railway, and the International Corridor Development Company.

The train’s journey begins in Xi’an, China, and according to the scheduled timetable, it is expected to reach the Incheh Borun border railway station in Iran within 10 days. From there, depending on the cargo’s final destination, transportation to central or southern Iranian cities will take an additional 1 to 3 days.

This project marks the first route in the history of Iran’s land transportation in which freight forwarding operations at both ends are managed by Iranian private companies. It represents a significant step toward transferring direct management of the logistics chain to the private sector and strengthening Iran’s operational independence in international transportation.

Furthermore, for the first time, Incheh Borun Border Station has been designated as the official entry point into Iran for freight trains operating along the China–Europe corridor, playing a vital role in connecting East and West and enhancing Iran’s position as a regional transit hub.

This initiative is a natural continuation of the strategic partnership between Lasting Peace Group and Samand Rail Company, established in recent months to restore the geopolitical significance of the Islamic Republic of Iran along vital trade routes connecting Europe, the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

According to the project’s development plans, additional freight trains are expected to depart from China in the next phases, traveling through Iran toward Europe, Persian Gulf countries, and Iraq.

This initiative represents an important step toward redefining Iran’s position in the global supply chain and strengthening effective East–West connectivity through railway transportation.
